| ONLINE EXIT (PERKINS/HEALTH PROFESSIONS) FAQs
Who do I contact if I need to complete an exit interview? Exit interviews are conducted in two different offices here at The Ohio State University. Student Financial Aid conducts exit interviews for Stafford/Direct Loans and Student Loan Services conducts exit interviews for Perkins/Health Professions Loans. To inquire about which exit interview(s) need to be completed contact: Student Financial Aid (Stafford/Direct Loans) (614)292-0300 or toll free (800)678-6440 Student Loan Services (Perkins/Health Professions) (614)292-1056 or toll free (800)635-8944 How do I logon to complete the exit interview process? In the address bar type in http://www.treasurer.ohio-state.edu Click on the 'Online Exit Interview' link (left column) Read the instructions and click the "login to ONLINE EXIT INTERVIEW" link below Using OSU's School Code (59), Account Number (SSN), and five- digit PIN (first time users) to enter the "My Account Login" at ECSI for The Ohio State University website. Click the "EXIT INTERVIEW" link (left column) to begin the interview. This information is also provided via email and postal mail notification to all students requiring exit counseling. If you do not have the information above, contact Student Financial Aid or Student Loan Services at the numbers provided above for assistance. Is completing the Exit Interview necessary? Yes. The exit interview is part of a federal mandated requirement for all borrowers who receive government assistance to fund their education. Upon signing the promissory note, you have agreed to this regulation. I have a hold on my account due to a pending exit, and I need to register for classes. How do I get the hold removed? You would need to complete the exit interview(s) for your loan(s). Depending on the loan, an exit interview can take anywhere from ten (10) minutes to one (1) hour to complete the interview process. Hold removal can take up to two (2) business days for our system to update your new status. If you need immediate assistance after completion, contact Student Financial Aid (Stafford/Direct Loans) or Student Loan Services (Perkins/Health Professions Loans) to have the hold manually removed. I am not graduating. Why do I need to perform an exit interview? At some point your enrollment status either dropped below part-time status(six (6) credit hours for undergrad and five (5) credit hours for graduate students), you were not enrolled the previous quarter, or you were initially scheduled to graduate at the conclusion of the quarter. Our system picks up this information and signals our office an exit interview is needed. This information is then translated to the student through email or postal mail. Yes. One of the requirements for federally-funded loans (Perkins/Health Professions, Stafford, Direct Loan) is maintaining a part-time or higher status during the regular school year (Fall - Spring). I am afraid I will not receive any financial aid if I complete my exit interview? If you are registered for classes and you have filed a FAFSA for the current year, as long as you are within the criteria to receive funding you will receive the loan again. This will continue to be the process until you decline the funds or are no longer qualified for funding. For further information, contact Student Financial Aid at (614)292-0300 or (800)678-6440. Why do you require references when completing an Exit Interview? A reference is used as a contact in the event we are unable to reach you with the contact information previously provided. These individuals will know your whereabouts and how to contact you at all times. Your references will never be contacted unless this situation occurs. Where can I complete an exit interview for University Loans? Unfortunately at this time, University Loan exit interviews are currently not available on the website. OSU Student Loans Services/Accounts Receivable is currently developing a "University Loan Exit Interview" service with ECSI (Educational Computer Systems Inc). Estimated rollout date of this feature will be Winter Quarter 2007. Who is the Lender of my loan(s)? The lender of your loans can vary. The Ohio State University is the Lender for the Perkins/Health Professions Loan(s) where as a local/national bank can be the lender for the Stafford and AFSA (American Financial Services Association) is the lender for the Direct Loan. This information is outlined in the promissory note and exit interview. I am transferring / have transferred and I have outstanding loans. What can I do? Federal loans can be deferred as along as you provide proof of part-time or more enrollment status at your new education institution to your lender (OSU or local/national bank). Also, you must complete the necessary exit interview and submit all the forms required for deferment. University and Short-term loans cannot be deferred. |
